Features ok Nokia 3600: The Nokia 3600 Slide is another new slider from Nokia, combining cute looks with the latest in mobile phone features.
The handset is crafted from metal with a soft ceramic paint finishing, and will be available in two colour variants: black or red/pink. The face of the 3600 Slide is occupied by the 2” 16.7 million colour TFT LCD display and navigational key strip: consisting of the standard 5-way navigational pad, two soft keys, one pick-up key and one hang-up key.
Sliding open the 3600 Slide reveals the large-keyed numerical keypad – perfect for messaging! SMS, MMS, and e-mail (IMAP4, POP3, and SMTP) messaging is supported with T9 predictive text dictionaries for local languages pre-installed.
A 3.2mpx digital camera sits on the back of the 3600 Slide, with a full auto-focus lens, 8x digital zoom, and dual-LED flash. Video can be recorded at VGA (640 x 480 pixel) resolution and with TV-out (Nokia 2.5mm AV connector) support you can share your videos and images with friends and family.
The 3600 Slide is the first Nokia handset to offer background noise cancellation for “outstanding audio performance and uninterrupted calls.” With quad-band 2G network coverage (GSM 850/900/1800/1900MHz), the handset is a true world traveller. Unfortunately 3G networks are not supported.
Nokia’s Series 40 3rd edition platform is at the core of the 3600 Slide, with a range of pre-installed applications: Nokia Maps, Nokia Search, Opera Browser, Yahoo! Go and many more. Java MIDP 2.0 applications are also supported if you wish to add to the collection.
A stereo music player is built-in to the handset, supporting popular audio formats including MP3, AAC, AAC+, eAAC+, and WMA. The 860mAh battery provides the handset with up to 10 hours of audio playback, and you can easily synchronize your music using Windows Media Player 10 or 11.
For storage Nokia provide 30MB of internal shared memory, with a microSD memory card slot that supports cards up to 4GB in size. To start you off Nokia include a 512MB card in the sales pack.
The 3600 Slide is due to be released on the market in the third quarter of 2008. It will be available for ~$285 AUD (175 EUR) before taxes and subsidies.
